Drain Snaking, Hydro Jetting or Sewer Repair: Which Do You Need?
The right method depends on the obstruction, pipe condition and available access. More powerful equipment is not automatically the better choice.
When Mechanical Drain Clearing May Be Enough
A drain snake or suitable cable tool can clear certain localized obstructions. Equipment size and attachments need to suit the fixture and line.
When Hydro Jetting May Suit the Pipe
Hydro jetting uses pressurized water to remove suitable grease, sludge and other buildup. We assess whether the line can be cleaned this way before recommending it. Jetting clears material; it does not repair cracks, collapse or poor pipe alignment.
When a Sewer Camera Inspection Helps
Inspection can be useful when clogs return, the cause remains unclear or a repair decision depends on pipe condition. Not every straightforward fixture clog needs a camera.
NASSCO's pipeline assessment guidance explains how internal video inspection helps identify obstructions and pipe defects.
When Cleaning Is Not Enough
If a damaged section keeps catching waste or leaking, we discuss the underlying repair. You should understand what cleaning can achieve and which problem will remain afterward.
When Trenchless Repair or Excavation May Be Needed
Trenchless methods may reduce digging where the pipe and access conditions qualify. They do not suit every damaged line. Collapsed sections, severe displacement or slope problems may require excavation.
Before approving work, ask which surfaces will be disturbed and who will restore them.
